Labour Councillor Les Hamilton has stood down as a representative for the ward. Les announced his retirement during November 2023, after representing the ward on the city council for many years.

The date of the By-Election has been fixed as Thursday, 11th January 2024.

Brighton & Hove Liberal Democrats have announced their candidate for the forthcoming By-Election in South Portslade as Ken Rist.

Ken is well known in the ward and has stood as a candidate before. As a lifetime resident he brings a deep understanding of the problems that residents face. He is committed to tackling those problems and is seeking your vote to help him in that task.
