Ed Davey condemns Musk rally speech calling for violence

Ed Davey has condemned Elon Musk's speech to the far-right “Unite the Kingdom” rally on Saturday, describing it as a serious and dangerous interference in our democracy. In a letter to the Prime Minister he has called for sanctions against Musk for his attempt to sow discord and invite violence onto the streets of Britain.
Musk is a South African by birth but has taken US citizenship and lives in the US. He has no connection to Britain except through business connections. It has been rumoured that he has offered funding to far-right political entities in the UK (it is illegal for a non UK citizen to contribute funds to UK political parties) and by his actions is thought to seek to support the disruption of our democracy.
